The most important things for Allie & David on their wedding day are as follows:
1) That their love be authentically reflected throughout their entire wedding day & 2) That the day be full of nothing but fun & celebration on the dance floor.
Throughout this blog post you will see they absolutely accomplished both of those goals. But before we get to the fun on the dance floor, let’s take a look into their precious moments getting ready with family only, & then one of the most joyful first looks we’ve ever witnessed.
After letting them soak it in for a moment or two,
we were joined by their adorable dog for some iconic family portraits, before heading into couples photos on our walk from the skyline to the venue.
The moments between the couples portraits & the ceremony
are often my favorite on a wedding day. They are not just there for us to capture the ceremony decor details, but also some of the most intimate moments, anticipating the moment a couple says “I do” while only surrounded by the closest of close people in their lives.
For Allie & Dave, this meant being surrounded by family & one close friend each for their Ketubah signing, & emotions flowing as Allie was uniting with her grandfather, an important figure in her life.
Just like that, it was time for the ceremony to begin.
Two months or so before a wedding day, I send each of our clients a questionnaire to fill out for me to gather all the important logistical details for the day, what portions of the day are most important to them, & a myriad of other details. One thing Allie shared with me in her questionnaire proved to be true, & something I relate to as well. She said, “I’m super sensitive and crying is basically my only emotion so get ready for the crying pics.” She also shared with me as we were walking that many in their guests coming are an emotional breed, which I affirmed “so is your photographer.” In the end, there was not a dry eye in the venue, including mine, as this ceremony was full of raw, kind love that moved each of us to tears.
Cocktail hour was nothing short of laughter &
absolute celebration as Allie soaked in the reality of finally being family with David & his family of origin, Dave hugged countless friends for the most amazing reunions, & overall imbibing took place setting the perfect scene for their reception to come.
Their reception began with a romantic first dance,
where tears from Allie’s mom once again began to flow, then we got the energy high for their traditional hora dance.
Toasts & dinner were full of nostalgic stories,
overwhelming laughter, & heartfelt moments we are honored we got to capture. Nights like these help us fall more & more in love with our job, capturing once in a lifetime memories is such a privilege.
Dancing the night away was a goal for this couple,
& they blew it out of the water. Not only did they & their guests dance the night away, but Dave also surprised his guests with the performance of the decade, as he borrowed a guitar from the band & joined them for a couple songs. Truly the most iconic end to their wedding day.
