With a ceremony at a Greek Orthodox church in Brooklyn Heights,
a boat ride for guests with views of the city, & a reception right on the East River in LIC, all of Christina & Lee’s guests were constantly awed by the Manhattan Skyline gracing our eyes. Here are some of my favorite details & moments from this special day on film & digital.
I saw photos of the Greek church
online before coming to photograph their ceremony here, but nothing prepared me for the devastating beauty of the space in person. There were countless wonderful moments to capture holding so much rich tradition in it all.
The moments immediately following
the ceremony included a bubble recessional out of the church, & a walk to the piers for the boat ride to Long Island City, with lots of laughter amongst it all.
The boat was a stunning start to cocktail hour
which had us sailing right up to the piers at the iconic Sound River Studios for the remainder of cocktail hour, & into the reception.
Toasts are always some of my favorite moments from a wedding reception.
hearing stories about the couples I’ve come to adore is so special, & I was moved to laughter & tears throughout the speeches given by Christina & Lee’s loved ones. I am sure you two can nearly feel that laughter as these photos exude it.
After toasts, everyone got to enjoy the incredible
catering & cultivate community over dinner.
It was then time for some formal dances
as a couple, with parents, & then into some Greek traditional dances.
The only time these two left the dance floor
was for a brief intermission to privately cut their delicious cake, then it was back onto the dance floor for them.
In Christina & Lee’s pre wedding questionnaire
they shared that they wanted their wedding to feel like three distinct parts. 1) The church ceremony 2) The boat ride & 3) The party. I have to say this vision for three chapters of sorts gave the guests such a wide variety of experiences, & plenty of time to catch up with old friends, then also party so hard on the dance floor there was no breathing room for talk.
