I do not know what I did to deserve this job. Truly.
I frequently find myself at a loss for words when trying to share with people how much I love my job & why. The why is always because of people like Elizabeth & Tony.
Elizabeth first found my work via TikTok, & we quickly hopped Elizabeth first found my work via TikTok, & we quickly hopped on a WhatsApp call to talk through hers & Tony’s plans to fly from Liverpool to JFK & elope. In secret! Aka a true elopement. I was so excited to be a part of this plan, & honored they chose me to document all the memories they would be sharing with their friends & family when they surprise them back home across the pond.
**this celebration was documented entirely on a mix of 35mm & 120 film.
Every time we messaged I was struck with a sense that Elizabeth & Tony are kindness personified,
& I quickly got to experience that in real life when we met in Central Park for their elopement ceremony. I had just met them in real life, but was moved to tears as I documented their celebration entirely on film photography. Their vows were full of sacred promises, & the type of humor that bonds laced so much of it.
To celebrate & basque in the newlywed joy, we got started making memories & documenting them authentically,
during New York City’s most magical season.
Traveling throughout Manhattan with them was constant fun.
As you can see by these photos, we were constantly laughing. I believe these two could charm even a scrooge on Christmas into laughter & joy. We discussed everything from The Summer I Turned Pretty, to our favorite books, to our dads’ shared love of golf, to our preferred liquor (they then gifted me the most delicious bottle of Mezcal when we visited after their elopement day, & it meant the world).
I could not have chosen better locations for us to stop, as some of my other wedding couples have had From Lucie’s as their wedding cake,
& it is absolutely top tier. We then went on to the Old Friend Photo Booth for a very special reason.
Elizabeth & Tony got engaged in Paris (another love we share<3), INSIDE the famous Montmartre photo booth.
They’ve made it a tradition to find a real film photo booth every where they travel together, so this was the perfect meaningful way for Tony to pop the question. They thought to themselves that taking photos in this LES booth, scanning the film strips, & delivering the prints to their family & friend’s mailboxes would be the perfect way to announce their secret marriage.
Aren’t they the most precious ever?????
Our final stop on la visite de Manhattan was their Ludlow Hotel lobby for a few pictures at the bar.
I had just finished what I meant to be my last roll of 120 film when the sun finally made an appearance. Naturally, I threw another roll of Kodak Gold 200 into my Pentax 645 & got some of my favorite photos from the whole day!
Elizabeth & Tony had a last hotel reservation in Williamsburg,
so we coordinated a time the day before they flew home for them to join me & my husband, Duy, for coffee at our Greenpoint apartment. I suggested it with the reasoning that they would need to get their physical photo booth film strips back after I scanned them digitally for them, but really that was just a rouse to hang out with them more.
We spent over an hour just laughing & yapping, about who knows what, & it was such a treasured time. This was when they generously gifted me a bottle of Mezcal, which just made me fall in love with them & their intentional hearts all the more.
When they left, Duy commented “You always have the coolest, & best clients.” I really really do, & could not be more grateful. Catch me in Liverpool in 2027, xx
Cheers to Elizabeth & Tony’s laughter-filled love <3
