I felt an intense joy from them both. Their relationship was full of it! Which meant their multi-cultural celebration of their love at Rule of Thirds reflected just that – joy.
Documenting this day on digital & film brought that infectious joy to my life.
The first look in Transmitter Park
was so perfectly new york I had chills. We walked around Greenpoint, getting candids & prompted couples portraits, till it was time to reunite by the water with their wedding party!
In addition to being joyful, this couple is intentional.
their details are a perfect example of their intentionality. They thrifted some of their candlestick holders from their favorite antique mall, Newburgh Vintage Emporium, which holds special memories for them. Tiffany also told me over email the following: “Ben had the idea to create table runners out of batik, which is a traditional Malaysian textile that features a signature pattern. I thought that was an amazing idea, so when my mom and I went back to Malaysia to visit family earlier this year, we went to Central Market (a historic market in the nation’s capital) to buy all of the batik for the runners. My mom was the one who sewed them together to create the table runners. We’re planning on keeping some to use on our dining table, but also potentially create a quilt with them too!”
How special! A detail I personally loved as an avid reader myself, was seeing their unique guestbook. Rather than having people sign an actual book, they had post cards of different books that folks could choose from & right a personal note on – so unique & fun! Finally, the tallit they used as part of our chuppah belonged to Ben’s grandfather. It’s been used at other family weddings and was what Ben’s grandfather wore.
The moments before the ceremony are always
some of my favorites. They are full of anticipation & happy nerves, waiting to finally become married!
Just like that, it was time for the ceremony!
Their personal vows moved many of us to tears, & it was so sweet to see them incorporate different traditions from both of their families’ cultures.
With Tiffany & Ben officially married, it was time to eat, drink, & be merry!
If you want to prioritize good food & drink, Rule of Thirds is definitely the place to get married! Karaage chicken & gingery cocktails were passed from hand to hand, & laughter was heard all around.
The reception started with immediate excitement,
as Tiffany & Ben transitioned from their first dance into the hora.
Dinner was full of toasts & embibing,
as friends & family from different circles met & made new connections, & celebrate their dear friends Tiffany & Ben.
