When Alyssa & I first talked I knew this was going
to be a wedding I don’t want to miss out on, & wow was I correct. They put in so much of their heart & artistic style into everything from their attire, to the venue details, to the flow of the day, which resulted in a day where I documented everything from colorful flowers, drinking champagne in the vineyard, & the palpable feeling of love everywhere.
Laurence did not want any getting ready portraits, so I began the day with Alyssa & her family & friends at a hotel, before making our way to the venue.
At the venue, we started on couples portraits throughout the beautiful grounds
then transitioned into group photos with lots of beautiful, in between moments, of connection as we went.
Alyssa really wanted to highlight moments with her core group of girls,
so we took a stroll through the vineyards, which resulted in some of my favorite photos I’ve ever captured. The light, the colors of the girls’ dresses, & the joy they were experiencing resulted in absolute magic.
After portraits finished, it was time for the Ketubah
signing. While the couple is not very traditional, they found their own ways to embrace their cultures, & honor their families, by participating in the Ketubah signing, & incorporating a modern take of the hakafot, where instead of just Alyssa walking around Laurence 7 times, they both walked around each other 3.5 times <3
Cocktail hour began with a private drink for Alyssa & Laurence in the vineyards,
before they enjoyed time with all their loved ones, hugging, mingling, & celebrating the union that just came to be.
I snuck into the reception space a few times throughout the day
ensuring I documented the stunning details, both in natural light, & in the darkness illuminated by the lit candles.
At last, it was time for the party to begin,
starting with a grand entrance, formal first dance, & a horah.
It was heart warming to see how close Alyssa & Laurence’s families are
with the couple, as both their moms & siblings gave heartfelt speeches, & welcomed their new in law into the family.
Towards the end of the evening,
Alyssa changed into the most iconic reception look, freeing herself up to go even harder on the dance floor, & have her own city girl look. Alyssa stole a private moment with Laurence, which can be so special amidst the chaos of a wedding, to explore their ceremony space in the twinkle lights.
Finally, we capped the night off
with a cake cutting & a cheers to the newly married Begams.
